Wismar
In the Westphalian Peace of 1648 Wismar became Swedish, but was given to the duchy of Mecklenburg in 1803 for 100 years. Sweden had the right to claim it in 1903, but did not do so. Today the inhabitants seem to be proud of their Swedish heritage, because sometimes they designate themselves southern Swedes. They celebrate Sweden Days every year. There are not many people in Wismar, only ca 45,000.
