Checkpoint Charlie - the famous border crossing
When the infamous Berlin Wall had been built there were only a few official border crossings in and around West Berlin. One of those was Checkpoint Charlie, which has been kept as a museum today. The citizens of West Berlin could visit East Berlin, but it was time consuming to be checked by the DDR (GDR) police. Today it is quiet and peaceful here, and DDR-memorabilia are on sale. Picture 1 and 2 show the border crossing and picture 5 shows the famous sign from the other way. Normally you see  "You are leaving the American sector", but not in the photograph. I have been on the "Soviet" side and taken the photo. From two different angles you can see an American and a Soviet soldier. In the last picture the sign is "right".
