The East Side Gallery
The East Side Gallery is said to be the longest arts museum out of doors, and why not? 1,300 metres of Berlinwall as artist's canvas is quite enough. What is special with this part of the wall is that it is painted on the east side of the wall, and that is why The East Side Gallery is called so. The west side of the wall was always painted, but after the reunification one could pick or paint on the wall whichever side you happened to be on. Some of the paintings were restored in the year 2000. You can see two of the most famous paintings below, one of them old and torn (from ca 1990) and the other new and fresh (from ca 1990 but restored 10 years later).
