Fountain of Neptune

The Fountain of Neptune was created in 1891 and placed in the vicinity of the old Berlin Castle. In 1969 it was transferred to the present location. The four women that surround Neptune embody the four great rivers of the Rhein, the Elbe, the Oder and the Weichsel (now in Poland). Who is then Neptune? According to Roman mythology he was the god of the Sea.
