Potsdamer Platz - the new posh area of Berlin!
The Potsdamer Platz has always been a living part of Berlin, but during DDR (GDR)-times the district was closed to everyone, because the Berlin Wall ran right through it. If you had tried to get near it from the eastern side you would probably have been shot, but if you had come from the western side you would perhaps only have seen youngsters with spray cans. Many years after the fall this was the biggest working area in Europe. A lot of free land had to come to some use after years of hosting the wall. The pictures were taken in July 2003.
