Bern

Bern was wonderful on a sunny Sunday. We walked for 6-7 hours and took in all major sights: the parliament, Zytglogge, the bear pit, the Cathedral and the old town, the Rose garden, and the river Aare. The bears will get a bear park next year, which is good as the existing pit is very limited in size. In the river people let themselves go with the rapid-flowing water. Only 18 degreees centigrade in the water, but it sure looked inviting.

The only shopping we could do that day was in the Main Railway Station of Bern, which was open on a Sunday. In Switzerland as well as in Germany all shops open on a Sunday are located at the railway stations.
