Bern to Zermatt |
On 23 June 2008, we set out for Zermatt on the border to Italy. On the way there we could enjoy a car train. Our GPS actually said: "Take the train!" which we had never heard before... Unfortunately we could not drive all the way to Zermatt, but had to park our car in the village of Täsch, close to Zermatt. We arrived by train at Zermatt and headed for Matterhorn, the alleged model for the Swiss chocolate Toblerone. The mountain of Matterhorn is visible on all Toblerone packages. The peak of Matterhorn was only visible at the beginning of our stay at Zermatt, but we enjoyed the vista anyway. We bought expensive tickets to the Matterhorn glacier paradise (Klein Matterhorn). They cost 54 EUR for a day ticket return for one person. But then again you could reach 3 883 metres above the sea, which was a mighty contrast to Wattenmeer six days earlier. We did not want to sleep there so we drove at random in the direction of Chur and Liechtenstein. |
With the Car Train between Kandersteg and Goppenstein (will take long time to download because of the big file, and you need to have Quicktime too).
Going down from Matterhorn Glacier Paradise (Klein Matterhorn) with the cable car (will not take so much time to download, but you will still be needing Quicktime).
