Jokkmokk
Jokkmokk is the second largest municipality after Kiruna when it comes to size. Only 6 500 people live scattered within the borders. The biggest event at Jokkmokk is the Market held in February each year. There are two churches in the center, the old and the new churches. However, due to a fire the old church is newer than the new church. In 1972 the old church burnt down and was rebuilt four years later. A less known gastronomic specialty comes from here as well, the Jokkmokk Sausage (jokkmokkskorv). It has actually a homepage of its own. It is, however, not in English, but you can get an idea of what it looks like. The municipality of Jokkmokk is also known for hydroelectric power. Between Jokkmokk and Porjus there are a lot of hydroelectric power stations, Akkats, Ligga and Porjus. The last picture is from Letsi.
