The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, and many people disliked the tall structure. But, gradually Parisians began to want to keep it, so when the exhibition was over it was decided to let it stand. Now, every seventh year the tower needs re-painting.
