Selection Page Germany 2006

In Germany for the eighth time of my life. This year we visited almost all 16 German states in 22 days. The one we missed was Bremen. We do not have any pictures from Hamburg this year. We were only trapped in a snarl-up on the road for an hour. We therefore decided to go to Hanover instead. Nor do we have pictures from Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein, owing to unexpected camera troubles. The camera broke down in Berlin:-( During the whole trip we had so much fun, and Munich was simply the best. We watched the match between Sweden and Germany in the World Cup. The next time we came to the city center I had a wheat beer in a pub in the evening together with nice people around me. Germans are so nice and friendly, and it was so evident this summer.

Other highlights were an afternoon nap in Herne, Europe's biggest shopping mall in Oberhausen, the landscape around Ludwigshafen and Mannheim, The German Corner in Koblenz, Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the tube in the air in Wuppertal, Bad Cannstatt in Stuttgart, kangaroos in Chemnitz, 218 km/h on the Autobahn while Lizette was eating a bar of chocolate, Bauhaus in Dessau, walking on the island of Mainau seeing all the flowers, a Sunday morning stroll in Essen, watching Germany-Argentine in the Karstadt Department Store in Bonn with 50 other people and the German celebrations afterwards outside, a non-existent bridge at Remagen, all things on offer in Germany, Johannisbad in Zwickau, the friendly German Police Force during the World Cup, the many cities that we had never heard of in the Ruhr area or close nearby: Mühlheim, Herne, Krefeld, Witten, Bottrop, Neuss, Remscheid, Bergisch Gladbach and Moers. These cities have all more than 100,000 inhabitants!

I can only say this: GERMANY ROCKS! Go there and enjoy!
